The Kiko breed of goats is relatively \u201cnew\u201d breed of meat goat in the US. The Kiko breed originated in New Zealand when ranchers sought a hardy breed of goat that would be parasite resistant but also have good mothering and birthing rates. They soon found that crossing a domestic goat and a wild goat produced an animal that was hardy, vigorous foragers, parasite resistant and made excellent mothers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meat produced by goats is leaner and has a higher protein content than many other traditional meats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
