How Did We Get Here?

As a child, I spent many summers at my grandparent’s farm. My grandmother taught me how to preserve vegetables, pickle anything that grew, and cook meals for the hardworking farm boys. Sometimes, I got to “help” the boys with the chores, loading hay bales in the field and cleaning fish from the pond. My cousin, Michael, and I had untold adventures in the pastures, driving three-wheelers, chasing cows, and climbing trees. I can still taste the fresh apricots, warm from the summer sun.

The years went by and I got married and started a family of my own. In 1999, my grandparents decided it was time for them to move to town and asked if my husband and I were interested in the land. After several months of discussion and consideration we jumped in and “bought the farm” in the fall of 2000.

I enjoyed summers with my Grandparents and cousins on the farm. The only granddaughter with seven male cousins, I was quite the tomboy!
